After I had my first child, I was shocked by the lack of solutions available to help me heal after birth. I was given a one-size-fits-all, see-through, mesh underpant and an old-fashioned ice pack, and told to “deal with it.”
Well, we dealt with it by creating Nyssa’s first product: FourthWear Postpartum Recovery Underwear, the first dual-layered postpartum recovery underwear with a 360° pocket design to securely hold ice or heat therapy between the legs, at the site of a c-section incision, and over the lower back and tailbone.
Today, we collaborate with OB-GYNs, doulas, educators, and women all around the world to create personal care solutions for postpartum recovery, period pain, and the ‘unmentionables’ of womanhood.
We ensure that our designs are made for our bodies and needs, helping women deal with the physical and emotional transformations we all share, yet experience in entirely unique ways.
And we also talk about it. Because only by talking, listening, and sharing our stories can we know the true depth of our collective resilience, empathy, and possibility.

Nyssa’s designs have garnered multiple awards and been named to MoMA’s ‘100 Most Influential Innovations For Women For the Last 100 Years.’
Recently, Nyssa was honored with Amazon’s Force For Good Award, which recognized Nyssa for its work to improve women’s healing and health education:
