Our pads are specially designed to support the heavier bleeding and leakage post-birth. How many pads will I need for my postpartum recovery?
Everybody’s body is different. For many people, postpartum bleeding is much much heavier than bleeding from a regular period, and includes other tissue, such as lochia, in the discharge. Even if you give birth via cesarean section, you can expect to bleed from 2-6 weeks after delivery and up to 12 weeks postpartum.
You’ll want to change your postpartum pads regularly— particularly if you’ve experienced tearing or an episiotomy—to keep the area as clean as possible. You should always change your pads when they are full and speak to your healthcare provider about how often you should change them to ensure that the vulva/perineal area can heal properly and stay free from bacteria.
What makes Nyssa postpartum pads different?
Did you know that most pads (and tampons and baby diapers) contain hormone-altering toxic chemicals? It’s a big regulatory issue, particularly in the U.S. Period products often contain pesticides (when made with cotton), chlorine, VOC plastics, BPA plastics, dioxins, furans, and much more. Our pads are made with an organic cotton top sheet and chemical-free, natural ingredients throughout. They have not been treated with chlorine bleach.
