Few of us look at our vulvas with any regularity. Perhaps even fewer have considered what self-knowledge and care of our vulva and vagina could mean for our long-term health, both physical and emotional.
This was the impetus behind our first ever Knowledge Series, hosted in the Fall of 2021 and led by a powerful team of experts over four weeks. During those sessions, we learned, shared and collectively vowed to seed a ‘new normal’ for dialogue around women's health and wellbeing.
Here are our key takeaways from this eye-opening series.
April Davis, aka The Vagina Blog, discusses the transformative power of taking charge of your own pleasure (oh, and she pulls no punches in spelling out why you should never fake an orgasm).
As women, we're often socialized to prioritize others' needs (and pleasure!) before our own.
Many of us, whether or not we'd care to admit it, have likely faked an orgasm at some point with someone. Also, although the idea of female self-pleasure has become somewhat more accepted and normalized in pop culture, there aren't many of us who are comfortable openly talking about masturbation and how to achieve that pleasure.
During our first Knowledge Series session, April Davis of the Vagina Blog, elaborated on Dr. Lucky Sekhon's amazing anatomy lesson using her own 3D model of the clitoris--it turns our there's more to the clitoris than we might think!
April also puts in a great plug for our VieVision mirror as a tool for learning about our own pleasure before getting stern about why we should. not. fake. orgasms.
We love how her perspective forces us to re-think our habits and ways of communicating to build a foundation (or rip out a faulty one!) for sexual relationships rooted in honesty, intimacy and a focus on mutual pleasure.
